Elizabeth Kirwan

Title: Executive Director

I have lived in the Peace River area for the past three years.  What continually amazes me is the valley and surrounding areas such as Lac Cardinal, Wilderness Park and others.  Originally from the Northwest Territories, I have learned to appreciate and love nature for the calmness it brings me.  I have a Master’s degree in Counselling and although I’m new to the Stepping Up program, I look forward to walking alongside you on your journey toward strength, confidence and healing.

Cynthia Stankevich

Title: Therapist and Facilitator

I moved to Peace River in 2013 from Salmon Arm, B.C. and am slowly adjusting to the cold weather and short summers. I am a proud mother of two adult children and I have two amazing grandchildren. I raised my family and then returned to university to receive my BSW in 2013.Confucius said, “Choose a job you love and you will never have to work a day in your life.”  I would describe social work as not as what I do but who I am.  I love helping others and I feel honored when I am invited to be a part of someone’s journey. Working with individuals and families from a position of support and respect guides my work to help create change. I am pleased to be able to provide this through the programs offered through Stepping Up. I look forward to meeting you and walking with you on your life path.

Title: Outreach/In-reach Worker and Facilitator

Born and raised in Peace River, it holds a special place in my heart to be working in a community with people who’s northern spirit I can relate to. While new to the Stepping Up team I truly value providing a safe environment for those I work with by being a non-judgmental, caring and honest individual. I believe that the service I am providing can be as unique as those accessing it, and try my best to work with people in a way that works for them. I currently have a Diploma in Social Work and as someone newer to the field  I offer a fresh set of insight and creativity into the practice. I am excited to work with you on your journey of growth or answer any questions you may have.

Title: Program Assistant/Trauma Informed Yoga Facilitator

Originally from Ontario, I have lived in Peace River for the past three years.  I am grateful for the opportunity to be part of the Stepping Up team and to be involved with such a dynamic program and community.  I am a registered yoga teacher and certified in trauma informed yoga.  Inspired by the integral part that yoga has played in my own healing journey, I am passionate about empowering clients to engage the mind, body and spirit in their healing process.  As the first point of contact for many, I hope to create a comfortable, approachable and non-judgemental environment.  I look forward to connecting with you.
